If you are a control system integrator you may qualify for a significant R&D tax credit. Too good to be true? Maybe not! Assuming you don’t qualify could mean leaving BIG money on the table.
How do we know? A control system integrator client of Rivergate Marketing recently informed our team that we should spread the word about the R&D tax credit to our other clients. They were recently awarded a $180,000 R&D tax credit. According to our client, prior to hearing a speaker from the AlliantGroup at the Control System Integrators Association’s Executive Conference, an R&D tax credit would have never even remotely entered his mind as a possibility!
According to AlliantGroups website:
“The Research & Development (R&D) tax credit is for businesses of all sizes, not just major corporations with research labs, and many companies are surprised that they qualify. If you think you must have research labs with white-coated scientists to qualify, think again. Are you surprised to hear that Barbie® qualifies for the R&D Tax Credit?”
The R&D tax credit eligibility is broad in scope. It not only applies to the development of products, but also activities and operations, such as improving manufacturing processes. For an extensive list of activities that can qualify for the R&D tax credit by industry visit Moss Adam’s website.
This tax credit has been around since 1981 with numerous revisions to broaden the industries and scope of activities it applies to. Many states offer similar tax incentives as well. There companies that specialize in helping businesses through the process to identify and claim the R&D tax credit.
Bottom line, none of us want to give away more of our hard-earned dollars than we have to! It may be worth a phone call to an expert to see if your business can qualify!
