Georgia Whalen is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, distribution and account management. She has a track record of gaining industry recognition for clients, increasing sales and identifying and developing new market opportunities. Prior to founding Rivergate Marketing, Georgia’s career experience included professional sales and marketing roles with fortune 500 companies, including Pitney Bowes and Kraft Foodservice.
Georgia grew up in Maryland, the daughter of entrepreneur parents who have owned their own business for 47 years and counting. Georgia’s knowledge and experience in utilizing the power of the internet to level the playing field, giving small to midsize companies the opportunity to compete head-to-head with their larger counterparts sparked her competitive nature and is the foundation of Rivergate Marketing. Georgia is passionate about helping her clients be found and heard.
Georgia earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Georgia resides in Arlington, Massachusetts with her husband and three children.
Christine McQuilkin helps guide agency strategy and champions building a great marketing team. She enjoys using her engineering background to create memorable brands for industrial business-to-business clients. She thrives on collaboration and the challenges of helping clients build and implement a data-driven digital marketing strategy to achieve their corporate goals. Prior to joining Rivergate Marketing, Christine served as director of marketing for a $50M system integrator. Christine has served on the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) Marketing Committee since 2018.
Christine graduated from Trine University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. She worked as a structural design engineer before returning to Dartmouth College to pursue a Master’s degree in engineering management with special emphasis on business with classes taken at Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business. Christine is married to her Dartmouth sweetheart and they currently reside with their two children in Southern New Hampshire.
Lauren Maranda is a marketing savvy graphic designer and creative problem solver. Lauren’s diverse career background has given her a unique perspective and experience that she draws on for inspiration. As creative manager, Lauren is able to blend her graphic design and art direction expertise with experience in developing marketing plans and managing projects for Rivergate clients.
Prior to joining Rivergate Marketing, Lauren was the lead US graphic designer for the international company APS Group, handling all design requests from packaging design, to managing monthly mailing initiatives and direct mail. She earned a bachelor’s degree in multimedia & graphic design from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.
Grace Clark is passionate about marketing and helping clients improve their marketing efforts and grow their business. She’s located in the Pacific Northwest, where she was born and raised along with three little sisters. In 2019, she graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science in marketing. Before Rivergate Marketing, Grace worked as a marketing coordinator for a system integrator where she managed all things marketing – from content creation to website management. There, she honed her skills and developed the right tools to thrive in marketing for engineering.
When she’s not at work, Grace applies her passion for creativity through painting and fictional writing.
Julia Plott graduated with a communication science degree from the University of Amsterdam and brings a combination of critical thinking and statistical analysis skills to our team. During her time in the Netherlands, Julia started her career as a marketing intern for renowned comedy theater, Boom Chicago, and was subsequently promoted to marketing assistant.
With experience in data analysis, web design, and digital marketing, Julia appreciates being part of the ever-changing digital communications industry. In her free time, Julia’s main passion includes writing for Artil Magazine, as well as traveling to new corners of the globe.
Brittany Averill is a creative and adaptable contributor who brings high energy to everything she does. She has a passion for visual and written storytelling and is committed to delivering outstanding customer experience built on trust and candor.
Before joining Rivergate, Brittany graduated from Tufts University with a dual degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences and subsequently worked in the health-tech space, rising to the role of Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships. Through her years in the startup space, Brittany gained expertise across a wide range of specialties including business development strategy, account management, analytics, and graphic design.
Outside of work, Brittany can be found enjoying life in the heart of Cambridge, outside of Boston. She spends her free time hiking across New England, drawing and painting, listening to audiobooks, and providing companionship to the disabled and elderly through local volunteer programs. She is also an avid foodie and an animal lover.
Kirsten LeRoij’s engineering background brings a broad scope of technical knowledge and expertise to the team. She has worked in the integrated circuit design industry as a verification engineer. In addition, she works as a manufacturing engineer for a mass flow controller engineering business. She has also worked in her local community as a high school science teacher, focussing on senior level physics courses.
Kirsten graduated from the University of Waterloo, in Canada, with a Bachelor of Applied Science in electrical engineering.
Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys hiking in New Hampshire, and a variety of crafting hobbies. She lives in southern New Hampshire with her four children.
Caroline Whalen as a graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Caroline joins the Rivergate team with a fresh perspective and progressive spirit.
Prior to joining Rivergate Marketing, Caroline developed her skill set on the Marketing and Communications team at Workforce Management Software Company, Kronos Inc. With a history of driving social media and blog success, Caroline joins the Rivergate Marketing team eager to help small businesses find their voice.
